Frequently Asked Questions

  • At Revive Health, we specialize in treating patients with pre-existing conditions. This is one of the MAJOR advantages of a medically supervised treatment program. We work closely with the rest of your healthcare team as needed to ensure that we design the best plan to address all health concerns safely. We can also assist in safely adjusting any necessary medications as your health and symptoms improve. Don't be surprised if you no longer need some of your previous prescriptions!

  • Unfortunately, due to current Medicare rules and regulations, we are unable to provide services to patients enrolled in Medicare at this time.  This is true regardless of ability to pay out-of-pocket for services and prescriptions and regardless of any current supplemental plan.  We hope to be able to offer services to patients enrolled in Medicare in the near future, so please continue to check back for any changes!

  • Yes. Appointments can be completed via telehealth if preferred, as long as you have access to a scale and blood pressure monitor at home. *Please be aware that if you are desiring a medication classified as a controlled substance (i.e. Phentermine, Qsymia, etc), an in-person visit is required by law prior to prescribing.

  • Absolutely. At Revive Health, Chronic Care Management, Menopause and Perimenopause care are all available as stand-alone services for patients. You do not need to enroll in a weight management program to gain long-term health benefits at our clinic.

  • If you are interested in support for both weight loss and menopause care, we recommend starting with a consultation for whichever condition concerns or bothers you most at this time. Because both weight management and menopause care require focused attention, we schedule separate appointments for each service, allowing us to provide the comprehensive, individualized care you deserve in both areas.

  • If you are desiring medications, please be aware that although we are happy to assist patients of any weight, for medication to be considered, for most patients, BMI must be greater than 30 OR BMI greater than 25 WITH a weight-related physical health condition (example: high blood pressure, sleep apnea, pre-diabetes). *These cutoffs are lower for certain patient populations (Asian, Indian, Native American), based on World Health Organization guidelines.

Upon scheduling your first appointment, you will be sent an email to create your patient portal. Once you have set up your patient portal, you will complete initial check-in questionnaires so we can be prepared for your appointment.

  • If you are a new patient to Dr. Schmitz, the initial one hour Weight Management consultation fee is $149 (applied to any Initial Program Cost). For patients scheduling a visit for Chronic Care Management or Menopausal Management, there is a fee of $199/visit.

At your Weight Management consultation, the available program options will be reviewed with you. Our program fees are typically very comparable to common prescription-only “MedSpa” pricing, with a much more comprehensive program designed to support long-term sustainability!

To confirm your upcoming visit, we kindly ask you to enter your payment card details during the final step of the online booking process or at the time of scheduling. Your card will be charged prior to your initial consultation. **If you need to reschedule after payment, please contact our clinic. If you need to cancel, please refer to the Refund Policy on our website.

  • NO, your medications are not covered by your visit fee. Any prescriptions written at Revive Health will be sent to your pharmacy where you will pick them up and pay any balance not covered by your prescription insurance.

  • If medication is prescribed, the length of time used will be determined by ongoing conversations with your doctor. A rule of thumb is, if the medicine is working, you should continue using it. This is no different than taking a medication to treat elevated blood pressure or mood, for example. However, at Revive Health, our goal is to assist you in creating the lifestyle changes that help you guide this decision when you are ready.

  • We work hard to make weight loss medications as affordable as possible for our patients, while still providing name-brand and FDA- approved medication options.

We begin by running prescriptions through insurance first to minimize out-of-pocket costs. For most patients, the available oral weight loss medications typically cost $25/month or less. If insurance covers injectable weight loss medications, these costs can be similar.

For patients choosing to pay out of pocket for name-brand, FDA-approved injectable weight loss medications, costs average as low as $65/month. This allows many individuals to access safe and effective treatment without needing to rely on unregulated compounded medication options.

  • Patients can, and many do, use their Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Accounts (HSA) to pay for their services. We are also able to provide an invoice for patients to submit to insurance for out-of network reimbursement when available (this is referred to as a Superbill).

In addition, services such as labs, dietician visits, and therapy services can be processed through insurance. Medications are generally processed through insurance at your local pharmacy as well.

Unfortunately, many insurance plans do not cover clinic visits for comprehensive weight loss treatment, even though excess weight is a major driver of chronic disease. For this reason, we’ve chosen not to bill insurance—so we can provide the care that is right for you, not just what’s covered. You get transparent pricing, more time with your doctor, and a truly individualized care plan.

*If you are enrolled in Medicare, please see above.

  • It is now well proven and understood that obesity is a chronic disease - this means ongoing monitoring and management is imperative for lasting success. Revive Health has a program to support all patients, including those who have experienced previous success through lifestyle changes, surgery, or medications, regardless of any current struggles or barriers they may be facing.

  • You are never pressured or required to use medication to assist with current symptoms. If this is an option you are interested in discussing, however, Dr. Schmitz will help determine if and which medication may be helpful for you after assessing a number of factors such as age, pre-existing conditions, lifestyle, and goals.

  • No! Anyone can schedule a visit without a referral.
